Feel – privacy policy

Feel is a private emotional awareness app for romantic couples. It exists between exactly two people. This policy describes, in plain language, what we collect, what we don't, and what we never will.

What stays inside Feel

When you use Feel, the following are stored:

• Your three wheel values (1–10), every time you submit a Pulse
• Any optional feelings you select alongside a Pulse
• Any optional note you write to your partner
• Your custom feeling list (private to you, not shared with your partner)
• Your reminder preferences (frequency, quiet hours, partner-note piercing)
• The username you claimed and the display name you entered during pairing
• Your account identifier: the opaque "sub" identifier Apple returns when you sign in with Apple (not your email), or an anonymous account identifier if you continue as a guest
• A device push token, used only to deliver partner notifications to your phone

Everything you send is encrypted in transit (TLS) and encrypted at rest on Google's infrastructure. Access is restricted to the two accounts in your pair, enforced by server-side security rules.

To be exact about what we do not do: Feel is not end-to-end encrypted. Your notes and pulses are encrypted on the way to our servers and while stored there, but we hold the keys to that storage, so it is technically possible for us to read note text. We do not, and nothing in the app sends note content anywhere else. The text of a note never appears in a push notification payload. If we ever add end-to-end encryption, this policy will say so plainly when it is real, not before.

What Feel never collects

• Your real name (unless you typed it as your display name)
• Your email address
• Your phone number
• Your location
• Your contacts
• Your photos
• Health data
• Device identifiers used for advertising
• Anything from any other app

What Feel never does

• We never show ads. We never sell user data, emotional or otherwise.
• We do not run behavioral analytics, and we do not track you across other companies' apps or websites. The app's privacy manifest declares no tracking, and there is no analytics or advertising SDK in the app.
• We do not have public profiles, social feeds, discoverability, followers, or audiences.
• We do not share content with anyone other than your paired partner. There is no second category.

Crash reporting

Feel uses Firebase Crashlytics, a crash reporting service from Google. If the app crashes, a report containing the stack trace, device model, OS version, and a Firebase installation identifier is sent to Google so we can fix what breaks. Crash reports do not include your notes, pulses, or feelings. This is the only diagnostic data the app sends, and it is declared in the App Store privacy labels.

AI and insights

Insights shown in the Insights tab are generated from wheel values and feeling selections only, never from the text of your notes. No third-party language-model provider (Anthropic, OpenAI, etc.) ever sees the raw text of your notes.

Sharing with your partner

The whole point of Feel is shared visibility between two people. When you submit a Pulse, your partner sees your three wheel values, any feelings you attached, and any note you wrote. Nothing else. There are no read receipts, no presence indicators, no "typing" status.

Your control

• Disconnect partner (from Profile or Privacy & safety): clears the active pair. The pair and its shared pulses are deleted from our servers, and your own pulses remain in the app on this device. If you reconnect with the same partner later, the shared history returns.
• Delete account (from Privacy & safety): wipes all local data on your device and deletes your account and data on the server. Deletion is immediate and permanent. There is no grace period and no recovery window. We do not retain backups.
• Sign out (from Profile): wipes your local data on this device. Your account on the server is unchanged; signing back in restores it.

Children

Feel is for adults 18 and older. We do not knowingly collect data from anyone under 18. If you believe a minor is using Feel, contact us through the feedback form linked below and we will delete the account.

In a crisis

Feel is not a substitute for professional support. If you or someone you know is in crisis, the resources surfaced inside the app (988, Crisis Text Line, Samaritans, findahelpline.com) are the right next step.

Where your data lives

Feel's backend is Google Firebase, so Google LLC is the data processor that hosts your data on our behalf:

• Firebase Authentication holds your account. Sign in with Apple is federated into it; guest accounts are anonymous.
• Cloud Firestore stores your pulses, notes, feelings, username, and pair.
• Firebase Cloud Messaging delivers partner notifications.
• Firebase Crashlytics receives crash reports, as described above.

Google stores and processes this data under Google's data processing terms. Apple is involved only as the identity provider when you sign in with Apple; Apple does not host your Feel data.

Changes

If we ever materially change what's stored or how, we'll notify you in-app before the change takes effect.
